Quiver tree - L'arbre carquois - Kokerboom

Et enfin, au foret de l’arbre carquois (Kokerboom).  C’est un type d’aloès, dont l’écorce e les branches ont été utilisés par le peuple San (les Bushmen) pour faire des carquois pour leurs flèches.  On était tout près du foret, et donc on pouvait voir les arbres au coucher du soleil, et au lever du soleil le lendemain.

And finally, to the Quiver tree (Kokerboom) forest.  Not the ‘quivering trees’ – they are a type of aloe, and quite stable, but the bark and branches were used by the San people (the Bushmen)  to make quivers for arrows. We were staying right by the forests, and so were able to see the trees at sunset and sunrise the next day.

Je ne faisais aucun bruit, et un petit ‘dassie’ un petromus, m’a rendu visite.

I was very quiet, and a little rock dassie came by.
